What is a Telegram group template?

A Telegram group template is a saved blueprint of how your group is organized: which topics exist, what permissions each member has, and which welcome messages are pinned. Instead of configuring all of that by hand every time you start a group, you apply the template and the structure appears — the same, correct, in seconds.

It's the same idea as infrastructure-as-code, but for a Telegram community: describe the structure once, version it, reuse it. Perfect if you run a fresh group for every cohort, event, client or season.

A ready-made group template

Here's a solid starting template that suits most communities. Copy the shape, then adapt the names to your group:

title: "My Community" topics: - title: "Announcements" closed: true # admins only messages: - text: "Welcome! Read the pinned guide" pin: true - title: "General" - title: "Questions & Help" - title: "Resources" - title: "Off-topic" permissions: can_send_messages: true can_send_media: true can_pin_messages: false can_manage_topics: false

You don't have to write this by hand — the visual builder generates it as you click. But it's worth seeing the shape: a title, a list of topics (some closed, some with pinned welcomes), and a set of default permissions.

The Telegram group setup checklist

Setting up a new group the right way, in order:

  1. Create the group and enable TopicsMake it a forum so conversations stay in separate threads. See our topics guide.
  2. Add your core topicsAnnouncements, General, Questions & Help, Resources, Off-topic — five is plenty to start.
  3. Close read-only topicsClose Announcements so only admins can post there.
  4. Set member permissionsDecide who can send media, pin, invite and manage topics.
  5. Pin a welcome messageExplain the rules and where to post, so new members orient themselves.
  6. Save it as a templateSo the next group takes seconds, not an evening.

Permissions worth setting

Telegram exposes fine-grained member rights. The ones most groups should decide deliberately:

  • Send messages / media — the baseline for who can talk and share.
  • Pin messages — usually admins only, to keep pins meaningful.
  • Manage topics — who can create, close and reorder topics.
  • Add members / invite — controls how the group grows.
  • Send polls & links — handy to restrict in noisier communities.

In a template these live in one place, so every new group inherits the same rules — no more setting a dozen-plus toggles from memory.

Design once, reuse everywhere

A template only pays off when it's genuinely reusable. With Chat Structure Helper you build the structure once in the browser, then send it to the bot — and it creates the whole thing inside any group: topics, permissions, pinned welcomes, all reported back with a receipt.

  • One blueprint

Your topics, permissions and welcomes saved together as a reusable template.

  • Deploy in one step

Apply it to a new group and the structure appears in seconds.

  • Full receipt

Every change the bot makes comes with a plain-language summary.

FAQ

What is a Telegram group template?

A saved blueprint of your group's topics, icons, permissions and pinned welcomes that you apply to any group instead of setting it up by hand each time.

Can I reuse the same template for multiple groups?

Yes — that's the point. Design it once, then deploy the same structure to every new group, cohort or client chat in one step.

Do I need to write YAML or code?

No. You build it visually by clicking and typing; the clean structure file is generated for you automatically.
